The Bernstein Family
Peru - May, 1997
In May 1997, we took our first trip out of the country together and foolishly decided to go to Peru. This, of course, was the vacation that began all the vacation mishaps. From the bankrupt airline and fears of being stranded in Peru, to the hostage situation at the Japanse Embassy in Lima - there was always something that made us question whose idea this was (mine) and why we chose to visit Peru in the first place (the Inca ruins).
The trip covered Cusco and the lost Incan city of Machu Picchu, the Peruvian rainforest, and the capitol city of Lima. Despite all the problems, it was a wonderful trip, just maybe not the best choice as the first trip outside the States. But, considering the current political climate, this was probably the one opportunity available.
